What is cold or tempered bath pickling ?
In industry, room-temperature bath pickling refers to a cleaning or surface treatment process that takes place at room temperature, i.e. at the normal temperature of the environment, without the need for heating. This process often involves the immersion of parts or components in a chemical bath or a specially formulated solution to remove coatings, contaminants or impurities present on the surface of substrates. These baths contain chemicals such as strippers which act to dissolve or break down unwanted coatings. This enables effective cleaning or surface preparation for subsequent treatments. This type of treatment is generally used in many industrial sectors (aeronautics, automotive, chemical industry, metal parts manufacturing, etc.) where meticulous surface cleaning is necessary to guarantee the quality and performance of final products.
How do I strip paint ?
There are several methods for stripping paint, varnish or lacquer: spraying, immersion, dipping or manual application. Depending on the surface to be treated, the method will vary.
Stripping paint from metal
Several of our strippers are effective in removing various coatings from metal. EPOXY 40 ECO is specifically formulated to remove thin-walled paints such as epoxy polyester, polyester, acrylics, vinyls, as well as all unfired paints on ferrous metals and aluminum. SCALPIK L 300 is a methylene chloride-free liquid paint stripper that effectively removes various types of paint (powder, epoxy, polyester, etc.) and varnish from steel and aluminium. This product is especially recommended for stripping defects from paint runs.
Stripping paint from wood
Many of our strippers are effective for removing various coatings from wood. SCALP DMC 74 LIQUID is an alkaline stripping solution designed for wood. We have specially developed this dip stripper for cleaning and stripping these materials. It can be used ready-to-use, but can also be diluted up to 50% in certain cases. SCALPIK L 20NG is a liquid paint stripper designed for ultra-fast action by immersion in a cold bath. We've formulated this dichloromethane- free stripper, making it an ideal choice for wood. This dip stripper offers excellent adhesion and effectively removes paints such as epoxy polyester, acrylics, vinyls, cataphoretic paints and certain varnishes. Once your surface has been stripped, we recommend that you degrease it.
