SCALP CONSOLIDANT HYDROFUGE is a professional 2-in-1 waterproof consolidant that strengthens porous materials while delivering long-lasting protection against water penetration and atmospheric damage.
Designed for façades, walls and floors, this high-performance masonry consolidator and water repellent penetrates deeply into mineral substrates to reinforce weakened surfaces and create an invisible protective barrier. The treatment does not alter the appearance of the material, making it ideal for both modern construction and heritage restoration projects.
Suitable for stone, brick, concrete and mineral coatings, it provides durable structural reinforcement while protecting surfaces from moisture, damp and pollution.
SCALP MINERALISANT 95 is a professional mineralising treatment designed to strengthen and consolidate porous masonry, including limestone, siliceous stone, brick, concrete, and mineral coatings.
Invisible once applied, it provides long-lasting reinforcement without altering the appearance of the surface. Ideal for restoring historic monuments, old façades, or modern buildings, it protects masonry from moisture, weathering, aging, and external damage.
For large areas or hard-to-reach surfaces, SCALP MINERALISANT 95 can be applied via drone, ensuring fast, uniform, and safe application.
SCALP PRIMAFIX is a multi-purpose bonding and consolidating primer for porous or weakened substrates such as concrete, mortar, masonry, and mineral plaster. Designed for renovation and construction projects, it reinforces soft, powdery, or brittle surfaces, providing a solid foundation for paint, plaster, coatings, or adhesives.
Its advanced formula creates a chemical bond between layers, consolidating in depth while improving adhesion and surface impermeability. This helps to prevent cracks, improve durability, and extend the life of walls and structures.
SCALP PRIMAFIX is ideal for old, degraded, or highly absorbent substrates, commonly encountered in renovation work, and ensures a uniform and durable finish.
What is a consolidating or mineralising product ?
Consolidating and mineralising products are essential protective treatments designed for porous building materials such as stone, brick, concrete and plaster. Their primary purpose is to strengthen the internal structure of these substrates, improving cohesion and reducing long-term deterioration.
These solutions are particularly valuable on older, weakened or weathered materials, as they restore structural integrity without altering the material’s original appearance. By penetrating deep into the substrate, they harden the surface, reduce porosity and enhance resistance to weathering, pollution and chemical degradation.
There are two main categories of consolidants :
- Silicate-based consolidants (often referred to as mineralisers): They react chemically with free lime and siliceous materials, reinforcing the mineral structure of the substrate.
- Resin-based consolidants: These provide mechanical cohesion to friable or powdery surfaces, commonly used in heritage conservation and restoration.
When and how should a consolidant or mineraliser be applied ?
Applying a consolidating or mineralising treatment is recommended in several situations:
- On ageing façades or heritage structures made from stone, render or brick that have become friable, powdery, or delaminating.
- As part of a renovation project, to stabilise the substrate before applying paint, coatings or water-repellent treatments.
- On porous surfaces exposed to harsh weather conditions, in order to extend their lifespan.
The substrate must be clean, dry and structurally sound prior to application. If required, a façade cleaner or anti-moss/anti-algae treatment can be used beforehand.
SCALP consolidants can be applied using a brush, roller, garden sprayer or airless sprayer, depending on site conditions. They are typically colourless and non-film-forming, meaning they do not create a surface film and preserve the natural look of the material.
Can a consolidant be used alongside other treatments ?
Yes. Consolidants can be combined with other protective treatments:
- A water repellent can be applied once the consolidant has fully cured, providing long-lasting protection against moisture penetration.
- A finishing coat or mineral paint can be applied to a consolidated substrate, ensuring improved durability and adhesion over time.
At SCALP, products such as SCALP MINERALISANT 95 deeply consolidate porous materials while helping protect them against soiling and reducing their vulnerability to external factors.
